Killzone: Liberation is a 2006 shooter video game developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation Portable. It is a spin-off to the Killzone series, serving as a narrative sequel to 2004's Killzone.
Killzone: Liberation is set in the 24th century, and chronicles the war between two factions of human races, the Vektans and the Helghast. Its events take place two months after Killzone, featuring protagonist Jan Templar in his mission to repel a Helghast force led by the general Armin Metrac. Unlike its predecessor or other games in the series, Killzone: Liberation is a third-person shooter presented from an isometric perspective.
Killzone: Liberation was the first game developed and released by Guerrilla following its acquisition by Sony. Finnish game studio Housemarque provided support with the game code.
Reception to Killzone: Liberation was generally favorable.
