Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One is a 2011 multiplayer platform video game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 3. It's a spin-off to the Ratchet & Clank series.
The Ratchet & Clank series usually takes place in the "Solana" galaxy inhabited by various humanoid, anthropomorphic and beastly alien species. All 4 One takes place after the events of the Future saga, and follows the combined efforts of Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark and Dr. Nefarious to stop a lifeform collecting drone called the Ephemeris. In contrast to the mainline games, All 4 One places emphasis on cooperative gameplay, with players being able to play as one of the game's four central characters.
All 4 One is the third spin-off title for Ratchet & Clank, and the first to be personally developed by Insomniac Games. The studio considered cooperative gameplay for the series after experimenting with it with the Resistance games, and studio head Ted Price considered co-op to be a natural fit for Ratchet & Clank due to its demographic and cast. Development was largely handled by Insomniac's North Carolina studio.[1]
Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One received mixed reviews upon release. It was praised for its concept, visuals, weapon design and humor, while criticism was directed at its camera, repetitive design, low difficulty level, lack of polish and technical performance issues. Several outlets considered the game's $60 price tag to be too high, while others considered All 4 One a step back from Insomniac's usual quality. It was followed by 2012's Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault.
