Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is a 2015 compilation of remasters of 2007's Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, 2009's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and 2011's Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. The games, originally developed by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation 3, were remastered by Bluepoint Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 4.
The compilation includes reworked and revamped gameplay mechanics to all three games. All three games were remastered to run at 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second, and include new features such as new trophies, language options and a Photo Mode. A bonus option for Uncharted 3 was added, a feature that was originally omitted from the game's original release. While the original releases of Among Thieves and Drake's Deception included a multiplayer component, The Nathan Drake Collection only features the single-player campaigns of the games.
Sony and Naughty Dog chose to remaster the Uncharted trilogy following the release of 2014's The Last of Us Remastered and the decision to delay Uncharted 4: A Thief's End from its 2015 release. Sony enlisted the work of Bluepoint Games, which previously remastered older Sony-published titles such as 2011's The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection and fellow 2015 release Gravity Rush Remastered.
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection received positive reviews upon release, and several critics noted the quality of the remastering and the value of the overall package. Additional praise was pointed at the improved texture work and control scheme, though criticism was pointed at the aging design of Drake's Fortune and the lack of the original releases' multiplayer modes.
Content[]
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection includes the single-player campaigns of the following games:
- Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (2007)
- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (2009)
- Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (2011)
In addition, early copies of the remaster collection included codes for the beta of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End's multiplayer mode.
The original release of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception didn't include certain bonuses such as character skin selector, which was present in its predecessors; this was rectified in the remastered version, which includes a bonus menu that makes use of Uncharted 3's multiplayer skins as a substitute. All three games received updates to their trophy lists, language options and a new Photo Mode.[1]
